Lez Kowalski Giphy

Name: Leslie “Lez” Kowalski
Age: 17
Gender: F
Sexuality: Asexual

Place of Birth: Parkersburg, West Virginia, US
Race: Caucasian

Skin: Fair complexion
Hair color: Brown (dyed blonde)
Eye color: Brown
Height: 5’3”
Weight: 115 lbs.
Body type: Ectomorph

Mortal Parent: Ann-Marie Kowalski
God Parent: Letus, also called Mors

Personality: Lez rarely gets bothered by other people and tries not to judge them, and she’s overall pretty laid back and (surprisingly) good-humored despite the fact that she is definitely not the friendliest person to be around. Though she usually doesn’t try to make someone extremely upset or hurt their feelings, Lez will often “mess around” with people. Sometimes it’s because she feels like someone needs to be cheered up, and sometimes (most times) it’s just for her own personal amusement. While she doesn’t necessarily go out of her way to cause people trouble, she can definitely be a pain in the ass when she wants to. Due to the fact that she can come across as a bit of a choice five-letter word, she doesn’t make friends that easily and likes to keep that number relatively small—but she will be loyal (albeit obscurely, covered with the odd jibe here and there) to these individuals, though she may not always be that great of a friend to them.

Talents: Drawing, origami, fighting with her falx, good at listening, ignoring drama

Flaws (at least three): Generally insensitive to most people, lacks a serious bone in her body, often indifferent to a fault

Weapon(s): Lez has an IG two-handed falx, an IG gladius (though it’s definitely not her favorite), and an IG pugio.

Powers (things that use energy):

Necromancy. As a daughter of Letus, Lez can summon creatures of the dead. She can summon one for five posts with a one post activation and a two post cool-down, two for four posts with a one post activation and a three post cool-down, three for three posts with a two post activation and a four post cool-down, and four or more for one posts with a two post activation and a seven post cool-down. Depending on how much she uses this will affect her rate of exhaustion.

Shadow Travel. Lez can shadow travel to some extent, though this is not nearly as powerful as that of a child of Hades: she can only travel to places of death, such as a battlefield or a cemetery; the Underworld is beyond her reach. She can travel by herself to any specific site that falls under these guidelines with a one post activation and a three post cool-down. She can travel with one other person to any specific site that falls under these guidelines with a one post activation and a four post cool-down. She can travel with two other people to the any site under the guidelines with a one post activation and a six post cool-down. Her limit is four people including herself with a two post activation and a twelve post cool-down. Depending on how much she uses this will affect her rate of exhaustion.

Invisibility. For limited amounts of time, Lez can appear invisible to the unaided eye. She can hold this for up to eight posts with a one post activation and a three post cool-down, though she can hold this for less if she desires to. Depending on how much she uses this will affect her rate of exhaustion. Those aided by magic may be able to see her.

Abilities (things that don't use energy): Lez can sense the dead—meaning, in a broad sense, spirits, reanimated corpses, undead warriors (like spartoi), or just if someone had died in whatever place she’s currently at. She can also communicate with a spirit once she summons it or it makes itself known, and she sometimes gets a feeling of dread before someone dies or has a near-death experience.

History (at least five sentences): Lez Kowalski was born to failed journalist and borderline alcoholic Anne-Marie Kowalski sometime after the latter had decided to get into a relationship with the literal god of death. She had grown up completely aware of her father’s identity, though it had never really had an effect on her since the god himself never showed up. Lez lived a mostly uneventful life other than the occasional outburst from her mother until the age of nine, when she was attacked by a monster and responded by accidently summoning a spartoi to kill it. Oh, and the effort at the time nearly killed her. Later, Lupa’s wolves recruited guided her to Camp Jupiter where she’s remained in the Fifth Cohort ever since.

Notes: Canonically speaking, the Romans apparently refer to Letus by his Greek persona: Thanatos. The reason Hazel Levesque gives is that it’s because he’s the god of death. Since this explanation seems insufficient and the name Letus has already been used on this site in favor of Thanatos, I have decided to keep the Roman name.
