Cephus stood in front of Liam Davenport dressed in his usual green and gold trim toga and wheat crown. He had asked Helmer, an ex of his, to ask his older brother for a favor. Now a couple of days later, he had a retired senator sitting in front of him. With a breath, the son of Ceres excused himself and went to bring out a to-scale model of New Rome with the agricultural expansion added.
"I believe that farming is one of the staples of Roman society. Expanding our acres of agriculture will not only help feed Rome as a whole, but it pleases all the goddesses who has domain over food and harvest. Like my mother." Cepheus cleared his throat and pointed to an acre of farm land. "Here, we would grow wheat, barley, rye-- all sorts of grain. A portion of that grain will be sacrificed to Ceres and the other portion will be used to feed the livestock. The rest will be stored." Cepheus then shifted over to the beehive field. "Here, honey will be made and sold to the outside. A little extra cash coming in couldn't hurt anyone. Let alone a number of jobs this would open up." The son of Ceres stood up straight and looked at the older demigod. "Your thoughts?"

Liam sat at his desk, listening to the son of Ceres talk. He was mostly doing this for his brother, since this wasn't actually how this type of thing was done. It's not the first time someone had mentioned using argriculture to boost New Rome economy, and Liam hadn't been looking forward to this being the first thing he had to deal with on his first day back. But the kid actually had a few good ideas, or at least what Liam was hearing sounded fairly put together, and thought through, at least compared to the others that had brought ideas to the Senate. Of course Liam's opinion while helpful, didn't speak for all of the other senators. Cephus would eventually have to give a presentation to the entire House of Senators.
"Overall not bad." Liam started, at the top of this head he couldn't think of anything that was missing or... "Maybe calculate how much everything is going to cost to start out, tools, seed, stuff like that. And how exactly your going to get the money for it." Liam said, he knew how tough most of the other senators were. Liam, himself was using all for anything that could help New Rome, and they always needed a little bit of extra money flowing from the outside, and more jobs. But he also knew that some of the others were going to grill him with questions, all at once, and it was probably gonna suck to Cephus for those ten minutes he'd be given.

"Well, that's the thing, we wouldn't need to spend a lot on seeding. I am more than willing to grow sprouts out of the plowed farmland. It is what I do best. Though, you're right about the rest. The calculation should be fairest easy simple." Cepheus already had estimates and crunched numbers that should come out to be less than $12,000. "Plus, imagine how well the gods and goddess would appreciate getting more praise. I know I would love it."

Liam nodded in understanding and slight agreement. The only issue would be the loan of money. Which, Liam knew that the Senate had the extra cash laying around. It was a matter of convincing the rest of the Senate that spending even just $12,000 would be beneficial. "Well, overall not a bad presentation. Just make sure you lay it all out, and don't leave room for questions. Even if you think you'll be able to answer them." Liam finally said, leaning back a bit in his chair. He kind of wished he could just sign off on the permission himself, unfortunately it had to be a vote, plus he wasn't head senator.

At least Cepheus had this opportunity to work out the kinks of his plan. He felt that the Senate House wil agree to his plan of mass movement to agriculture.
"Thank you Former Senator Liam." He gave a little head bow before walking over to pick up the replica. "Mother will be pleased."

"Yeah no problem." Liam said, leaning back on his chair. He waited for Cepheus to leave his office before pushing his computer mouse a bit to get rid of the screen savor, and logging into his e-mail.
This meeting was pretty much the only thing he had scheduled for the day and while Liam thought it went well, he wasn't sure what the rest of the Senate would think.
